Enterprise Systems Product Manager
Earthjustice is the nation's leading environmental law organization. We wield the power of law and the strength of partnership to protect people’s health, preserve magnificent places and wildlife, advance clean energy, and combat climate change. We are here because the Earth needs a good lawyer.
Driven by a passion for justice, inclusion, partnership, and excellence, our core values lead us to seek a broad range of perspectives and backgrounds to achieve our mission and maintain an inclusive environment where all staff are valued and respected.
The Enterprise Systems Product Manager is a hybrid technical product manager and forward-deployed problem-solver who embeds directly with Earthjustice teams to streamline how the organization operates. This is a builder's role focused on process improvement, automation, and enterprise systems optimization. The work spans the full spectrum of modern operational technology; business process automation, workflow design, enterprise platform configuration, low-code/no-code solutions, and internal tooling, with AI applied where it adds real value. The ideal candidate brings the judgment to choose the right approach for each situation.
The role partners closely with business units including Legal, HR, Finance, Development, and Communications to identify bottlenecks, to map workflows and implement tools that materially reduce friction and enable staff to focus on mission-critical work. The ideal candidate is a rare blend of skills: equally comfortable configuring enterprise platforms, conducting discovery interviews with non-technical stakeholders, evaluating vendors, navigating ambiguity, and translating between executive priorities and technical tradeoffs.
This is a non-supervisory position.
The Enterprise Systems Product Manager is expected to work a full-time (37.5 hours/week) schedule, and will work a hybrid schedule with 2 days in-office per week from the following locations: San Francisco, New York, or Washington D.C.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Process Design & System Implementation (50%)
- Serve as a trusted technology partner across departments including Legal, HR, Finance, Development, and Communications by embedding directly within the department to understand how work gets done - conducting structured stakeholder interviews, mapping current-state workflows, and identifying bottlenecks, manual handoffs, and duplicative effort.
- Partner with departments to redesign processes and deliver solutions end-to-end: documenting, prototyping, and building production-grade automations using business process automation platforms (e.g., Power Automate, Zapier), workflow tools, and low-code/no-code applications to replace manual work with reliable systems.
- In collaboration with the Digital Transformation team, define and track success metrics (e.g., time saved, error reduction, cycle time, adoption, user satisfaction), and communicate progress and strategy to stakeholders and executive leadership through clear, data-driven presentations.
AI Roadmap & Delivery (30%)
- Partner with leadership and business unit stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and scope high-impact AI use cases, translating ambiguous business problems into well-defined product requirements and actionable technical roadmaps.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of AI-powered tools and workflows - including LLM-based applications, retrieval systems, automation pipelines, and integrations with existing platforms - balancing speed of iteration with security, accuracy, and responsible AI principles.
- Establish frameworks for evaluating AI solutions (e.g., build vs. buy, vendor selection, model evaluation, cost/benefit analysis) and develop guardrails for safe, ethical, and effective use of AI across the organization.
Emerging Technology Implementation (20%)
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to improve existing processes, deploying AI-powered solutions where they meaningfully outperform traditional automation and recognizing when simpler, non-AI approaches are the better fit.
- Partner with Security, Technology Operations, General Counsel, and Operations leadership to shape Earthjustice’s responsible emerging technology practices, including vendor standards, intake and review processes, evaluation methods, and staff guidance informed by frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
- Stay current on emerging technologies, develop structured benchmarking evaluations and monitoring and, in partnership with the Digital Transformation team, socialize findings with the organization.
Ongoing Learning
- Actively pursue professional development and contribute to a culture of learning by building skills and sharing knowledge—staying current on business technology, automation platforms, enterprise systems, emerging AI capabilities, and tools relevant to legal and nonprofit operations.
